What is the difference between tags and note layers?

Tags provide a simple way to organize and search for your data.  You can add multiple tags per note.  Note layers are a way to add one parent level to your notes within a notebook.  Notes can only be associated with one note layer and you can search by note layer names.  One additional advantage of note layers is that you can filter by them in list and map modes, unlike tags.
